The place also served as a marketplace for vendors and buyers who could choose a spot and grow their own fruits, flowers, and vegetables every day. However, this type of farming practice was short-lived and soon the land was infertile. The land was no longer useful for farming and remained unutilized for many years.Eventually, things started getting better and new things emerged in the era of the French Revolution. That was the time when the city of Paris went under a tremendous revolution and economic growth. In 1791, an order was issued by the national assembly regarding the tenure of the serving king. The order was passed to keep Louis XVI as the king even though the general public was against his rule and demanded his removal. This led to a huge protest and massive crowds emerged on the streets. Protesters made their way to the Champ de Mars where they collectively raised voices against the king’s rule. To calm down the mob the National Guard and Marquis de Lafayette entered the space and began separating people. At the same time, another larger crowd of protesters marched into the park and joined the rest. The entire mass of people was too huge to handle by the security forces and led to the severe loss of lives. The security groups gave their best efforts and the crowd remained strong. They started throwing stones at the guards in retaliation. The situation was getting out of control and the security gave warning shots in the air to get people to stand down but it was of no use. There was no other option than to open fire.
