Poet Carl Sandbur was born in Illinois into a poor family in Galesburg, Illinois on 6 January 1878, and died on 22 July 1967.He primarily composed poetry in free verse. His first poem was published by Harriet Monroe in the Poetry Magazine.Sandburg’s poetry collection was highly regarded and he received the Pulitzer Prize for ‘Corn Huskers’ (1918) as well as a book he wrote about Abraham Lincoln.
