Soon, word spread about the flower too. One day, when the pregnant queen becomes seriously ill, the king sends all his army to find that flower. But the king’s men immediately give them a chase.As Flynn takes shelter in the secluded tower where Gothel keeps the princess, Rapunzel takes him into captivity to prove to her mother she is strong enough to take care of herself. She also hides the bag containing the tiara that Flynn was carrying.But mother Gothel destroys Rapunzel’s excitement with her final verdict: she cannot go out. After seeing the duo escape from the inn, she schemes with the Stabbington brothers to get Rapunzel back.Meanwhile, the army, Rapunzel, and Flynn reach a quarry. There, as the fight continues, a dam breaks, and water gushes inside the quarry, trapping the duo in a dark cave. They assume it to be their end, and Flynn shares his original name, Eugene Fitzherbert, with Rapunzel, and the latter spills the beans about her magical hair.This rings the bell for her, and she sings the special song while her illuminated hair helps them find a way out. Later in the night, as they sit and talk by the fire, Flynn goes to fetch some wood, leaving Rapunzel alone. At that time, mother Gothel bears some bad news for her. She tells Rapunzel that Flynn is with her only for his vested interests, even as the girl confesses to liking him. Gothel also gives her the tiara and encourages her to test Flynn’s intentions. But before they can kiss, Eugene spots his aides and decides to give the bag to them. But the brothers take him in captivity, go to Rapunzel and tell her Eugene has betrayed her. They also show their interest in Rapunzel’s hair and try to kidnap her.A shattered Rapunzel runs to escape and soon finds her mother fighting off the goons to save her. A heartbroken Rapunzel then returns to the hidden castle.
